Susan L Woods
A/Prof Susan Woods leads the Gut Cancer research group at the University of Adelaide and SAHMRI.
She trained with Nobel Laureate J. Michael Bishop at UCSF, Prof Nick Hayward at QIMR-B and A/Prof Daniel Worthley at SAHMRI, specialising in functional testing of (epi)genetic alterations found in cancer.
She is the current Gastroenterological Society of Australia Bushell Research Fellow and her group is supported by NHMRC, US-NIH/NCI, Hospital Research Foundation & Tour de Cure funding.
Research in Susan’s group aims to improve early detection methods and treatments for gut cancers using engineered bacteria, mouse models and patient derived organoids.
